The Restart Project helps people learn how to repair their broken electronics, and rethink how they consume them in the first place.

The aim of the project was to create a map of reliable repairers across north London to prevent electrical waste. They sought to improve the general publics trust in the repair system and increase the speed at which they can find and have a repair carried out, which all prevents unnecessary electrical waste. Restart found that, at their repair events, 48% of items can be repaired straight away and 33% are repairable but need more work (i.e. from a commercial repairer). As a result the project focused on strengthening the network of community repairers in the first instance, then signposted commercial repairers for items that were unable to be repaired by the community groups.

Found out more about the work Restart do and their upcoming repair events, on their website.
