Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm was founded in 2013 when local residents came together to save the historic farm buildings from demolition. NLCF funding enabled the organisation to expand its environmental work through a food waste prevention project.
The project recruited 35 families to use a new food waste collection point and created a compost corner with two composters, supported by composting and low-waste cooking workshops. The team has received positive feedback and observed a reduction in food-related fly tipping at the farm.
The organisation ran six community events featuring 10–16 stalls hosted by local community groups and activists, covering topics including food waste, repair and upcycling, reusable products, gardening and recycling. The project also launched an Eco Show, established a local waste prevention network, and saw project lead Shiri receive the Inspiration-ALL Women Award from Barnet Council in recognition of her work.
