Our Yard at Clitterhouse Farm was founded in 2013 when a group of locals campaigned to preserve historic farm buildings from demolition. NLCF funding allowed them to take their anti-waste attitude to the next level with a new project aimed at preventing food waste.
The project saw 35 familiies recruited to drop off their food waste at a new dedicated collection point. A new compost 'corner' was created with two composters and composting workshops (which has become a popular topic at weekly gardening sessions!)
Classes also helped families learn low-waste cooking techniques. The Our Yard team have recieved lots of positive feedback on the project, and have seen a reduction in food 'fly-tipping' at the farm.
