brown flower pots, plastic pots, terracotta pot

Terracotta plant pots

If they're in good condition, terracotta plant pots could be sold online or given away on Freecycle (opens in a new window) or Freegle (opens in a new window).

If broken or not in a good condition, terracotta plant pots can be taken to one of north London's reuse and recycling centres (RRCs) where they can go in the 'hardcore and rubble' skip. Alternatively, you can wrap them in newspaper or similar and put them in your household waste.

Plastic plant pots

Plastic plant pots cannot go in the home recycling. This is because they are made of a type of plastic that the recycling sorting facility don’t have a recycling outlet for, i.e. there’s nowhere to them to be made into new products. Some garden centres will take back used plant pots for reuse. Alternatively please put them in the rubbish bin.

As part of our hard plastics trial, plant pots can be taken to three of our reuse and recycling centres - see below.
