Arachne Greek Cypriot Women's Group

Arachne, a community-based charity in Islington dedicated to empowering women and helping them reach their full potential through services including welfare advice, health awareness, employment support, training, accessible groups and volunteering opportunities, received funding to deliver three sewing courses for women in the community. 

 

The courses equipped residents with the skills to repair and upcycle clothing and other textiles, helping to prevent waste. Through 24 sessions attended by 30 participants, the project achieved strong outcomes, with 90% of participants gaining proficiency in sewing skills and 90% improving their knowledge of waste prevention. The project also raised awareness of its activities by promoting its work through local news channels and strengthening its social media presence.
