Age UK Enfield are a charity supporting and enhancing the lives of older people - the team passionate about improving the lives of older people by ensuring they are valued, active, connected and able to live the life they choose.
The project 'Men in Sheds' received funding with an aim to create a safe, social space for men over 60 to talk to and support each other whilst also learning woodworking skills and staying active by doing so.
By creating items from waste wood, Age UK Enfield delivered 48 workshops that provided skill-sharing and social opportunities for 55 attendees of retirement age, 40% of whom were from Black and Global Majority communities, resulting in 34 residents being upskilled in the use of woodworking equipment and the creation of 36 items for sale at events across Enfield.
