Hubbub is an award-winning environmental charity that’s all about inspiring action that’s good for the environment and for everyone. They bring businesses, organisations, local authorities and community groups together to create campaigns that make it easier and more possible for everyone to make choices that are good for the environment.
Hubub were awarded funding for the 2018-19 funding period for their project 'Street Store'. It is a community clothes swap pop up space that enables residents to swap their outgrown clothes for new items from other residents. As part of the project, a Street Store kit was created which included promotional posters, rails, rail dividers, measurement tools, and clever care tool-cards. The kit enables a community group to set up and launch their own Street Store pop-up and is easily adapted to other locations.
Overall, 113 residents attended the Street Stores at the pilot locations and 1,750 people were reached through community networks, whilst 845,777 were reached with the #StreetStore hashtag. PR coverage featured in 10 outlets with a reach of 1.2 million. 74kg of textiles was diverted from disposal directly, whilst indirect diversion was estimated as 0.56 tonnes.
