Food Hall provides community meals using surplus food. The funding supported this work as well as providing training, mentoring and qualifications for 20 community cooks to address barriers to people getting involved in cooking for the community.
The project aims were: to ensure residents have access to nutritious food, to tackle food waste, to be community-led and to build a resilient, fair food system.
At the end of the project, Food Hall had:
- Produced 400 community meals with 140 people being served per week
- Redistributed a total of 3.2 tonnes of food waste
- Onboarded 77 new community volunteers
- Trained 22 community cooks through their training programme
