Created as an offshoot of community space the Garden of Earthy Delights, the Woodshop of Recycled delights offers locals the opportunity to learn practical skills and upcycle leftover wood.

Workshops teach attendees the basics of carpentry, including measuring, sawing and drilling. As well as learning practical skills, participants get to exercise their creativity as they make beautiful new creations out of scrap. The workshops produce items such as planters or benches that can be used in community spaces, while empowering attendees with the skills that will allow them to attempt their own repairs at home.

Across the period of the NLCF funding, the Woodshop repurposed an enormous 5,220kg of timber, double the amount of the previous year. Almost 300 people took part in 33 woodworking sessions, and the Woodshop was able to hire 1 new full-time staff member. With funding secured for the upcoming years, the team will continue to go from strength to strength.
