Paint
The Forest Recycling Project is a Walthamstow-based charity that runs a number of initiatives aimed at reducing waste. One of these is the reclaimed paint program.

50 million litres of paint is wasted each year in the UK. The Forest Recycling Project averts this waste stream by collecting unwanted paint, quality-checking it and then selling it back to the community at discounted rates. The NLCF funding supported this scheme scheme by allowing Forest Recycling Project to increase shop opening hours and raise awareness of reclaimed paint as an alternative to purchasing new.

Over the course of the project, the increase in opening hours directly contributed to a 149% increase in sales, and over 14,000 litres of paint being diverted from waste facilities. Forest Recycling Project held 5 events over this time and saw an upswing in social media activity, suggesting there is now an increased awareness of reclaimed paint in Waltham Forest.
