2econd Chance

2econd Chance is a not-for-profit that runs computer recycling schemes, preventing electrical waste and offering educational and employment opportunities for people with difficulties accessing the job market. The NLCF funding supported trainees in Barnet, allowing 2econd Chance to set up a borough-wide laptop recycling scheme.

 

Across 2023, 2econd Chance was able to work with community partners to provide locals with refurbished machines, 100 of which were directly funded by NLWA. Through the network the organisation developed in Barnet, 15-20 specific requests were able to be fulfiled for people in the local community who needed particular devices.

 

The program continues to grow, particularly in Barnet where 2econd Chance has secured ongoing funding from Barnet Council's Time after Time fund. In January 2024 the British Computer Society accredited 2econd Chance's 50-hour educational program, a huge success in allowing the organisation to support vulnerable people transitioning into employment.
