You can turn your old candle wax into new candles (opens in new window). Alternatively, you can send used candles and wax to the Recycled Candle Company - details below.

If you are unable to reuse your candle please put it in your general waste bin.

Removing wax from tealight containers

If you have a tealight candle, you can separate the wick and wax from the metal or plastic containers:

• Put the burnt-out candles in your freezer for an hour or so
• Turn the candles upside-down and tap or press firmly on the base
• The wax should crack and come out easily, along with the wick

The Recycled Candle Company

The Recycled Candle Company (opens in new window) takes used candles and reuses the wax to make new candles. You can donate any kind of candle to them including tealights and votives, and any colour or type of wax. Remove wax from heavier containers before sending and try to stick within dimensions of 45cm x 35cm x 16cm and weighing under 2kg. A small parcel is far cheaper to post than a medium parcel.
