Further to our email acknowledging your freedom of information request (reference 2022-186), our response is as follows.

You requested information on ‘the current possible or proposed uses for the efw facility site that is also commonly known as the edmonton incinerator’ and ‘the current possible or proposed uses for the site referred to in the nlhpp design and access statements referred to as “zone 7”; or the temporary laydown area’.

We are considering the future use for the site of the existing energy from waste facility at the Edmonton EcoPark. The EcoPark is a protected waste site and can only be used for purposes related to waste management including treatment and disposal. A potential use under consideration is for facilities relating to carbon capture and storage for the energy recovery facility that is being constructed as part of the North London Heat and Power Project.

The temporary laydown area to the east of the Edmonton EcoPark is owned by Thames Water and leased by NLWA. Once it is no longer required for the North London Heat and Power Project, the current agreement is for the land to be reinstated to its condition prior to its use in the Project, as an area of open scrubland, and returned to Thames Water.

If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to raise a further information request. If you would like to complain about our handling of information requests, you can do so by emailing this email address (informationrequests@nlwa.gov.uk) or using the enquiry form on our website.
