A new outreach initiative focusing on waste prevention education is being introduced for north London primary schools. NLWA has launched the In The Know programme that will begin in September 2024 and span the entire academic year.
After working with Keep Britain Tidy to investigate the current state of waste prevention education in north London primary schools in 2022, one of the key findings was the need to embed waste education and minimisation as a culture within schools.
NLWA has developed a programme in collaboration with schools to deliver this. The in-depth programme aims to engage everyone on the school site through various activities and educational sessions throughout the academic year. The goal is to equip individuals with the knowledge and resources to reduce waste production and enhance the school's recycling efforts.
Participating schools can expect at least three days of in-person engagement from NLWA, teacher-developed and curriculum-linked materials, improved internal communications on waste and recycling practices, better waste and recycling infrastructure and services and long-term planning to help each school commit to further waste prevention.
If your school is interested in reducing its waste footprint, enhancing its rubbish and recycling services and working towards tackling waste and the climate emergency, please complete this application form.
Applications are open currently and close at 3 pm on 28th March.
