This summer, North London Waste Authority (NLWA) has launched its Borough Recycling Fund in partnership with Biffa Waste Services Ltd, the company which processes the recycling collected by the north London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest.
The Fund makes more than £75,000 available for borough-led recycling communications campaigns, outreach projects, and other initiatives in NLWA’s seven constituent boroughs in order to increase recycling in the area.
Boroughs can bid for funding for any project or activity that will support an increase in the proportion of material that is collected for recycling, which will increase the amount of recycling or which will help tackle contamination in mixed dry recyclables.
The Fund is being introduced following the start of a new contract for materials recovery facility services between NLWA and Biffa.
Boroughs have until 16 September to apply for the support. Details of the funded projects and their impact will be made available and shared with stakeholders at the end of the programme of activity.
