ReLondon, Islington Council and NLWA are proud to be collaborating on this installment of the Bin Less Save More challenge!
According to the latest statistics from ReLondon, the UK wastes around 9.52 million tonnes of food each year, costing the average household up to £1000. Unsustainable practices in how we buy, store and consume food are hurting the planet and our wallets.
That's why on 3rd April, NLWA will be coming to Jean's Cafe, Islington, to run our Bin Less Save More challenge and workshop.
Come and join us for an evening of helpful tips and tricks on how to reduce the amount of food waste you produce, some goal-setting and a cooking demonstration with a free meal of plenty of delicious waste-free food for you to try.
What does the Challenge involve?
The Challenge runs over a 5 week period, where the majority of it will take place in your home. Firstly, you'll weigh your food waste at home for a 7 day period before the workshop, following the instructions in the information leaflet and recording it in your logbook.
You'll then attend an exclusive, free workshop which includes a low-waste cooking demonstration, where you'll be able to take delicious treats and recipe ideas back to your own kitchen. We'll also help you plan for how you're going to reduce your food waste at home.
After the workshop, you'll weigh your household food waste on a weekly basis for a 4 week period, keeping a record of the results in the logbook we give you.
To thank you for your taking part in the challenge, once you've shared with us your food waste logbook, you'll be in with a chance of winning one of two £50 high street vouchers.
