Forest Fixers repairs its way through the community in Waltham Forest

Forest Fixers in Waltham Forest repairs broken electrical items to keep them in circulation for longer, saving them from waste. They are one of this year's North London Community Fund recipients.

Our Chair, Councillor Clyde Loakes, recently visited their pop-up Repair Café in Leyton to show his support and do an impromptu interview with Lisa Percival, the founder. The pop-up ran for four days and marked International Repair Day on 19 October 2024. Watch the interview below:

A great deal of value is found in old, broken or unwanted electricals. More often than not, these can be repaired or separated into materials that can be recycled and used for new products.

As you heard in the interview, not only does Forest Fixers bring a fantastic repair service to the community, it is also upskilling residents to mend their own devices in the future. This will generate a new wave of people who are more environmentally conscious and equipped to fix their own things.

So before binning your electricals, try one of the many alternatives: repair, donation, reuse and recycling to name a few!
