At 5:14am today we were notified by Bywaters that there had been a fire in their Waste Management Centre opposite to the Gateway Road Reuse and Recycling Centre (RRC). We were advised by the local police and fire brigade that the RRC would need to remain closed for the duration of today to allow full access to the site and to ensure resident safety. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. North London residents can attend any of north London’s RRCs and the two nearest alternative sites are South Access and Kings Road, both in Waltham Forest. See our RRC pages for more information.
North London residents encouraged to reduce food waste and single-use plastic for World Environment Day
Today, Tuesday 5 June, is World Environment Day. This year’s theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ challenges us all to reduce the amount of plastic we use and throw away. For instance, swapping your disposable coffee cup for a reusable one. North London Waste Authority (NLWA) is keen to help north London residents reduce their waste and is running a series of events to help residents make that switch.
£60,000 available in grants from North London Waste Authority for waste prevention projects by not-for-profit organisations
Media coverage on issues surrounding waste, especially single-use-plastic, isn’t the only thing that has increased in 2018. North London Waste Authority’s (NLWA’s) grant fund for community projects commenced in 2017-18 and is being continued with an increased amount of funding available for 2018-19.
